There are many options for your child's education and also many concerns regarding your child specifically that determine which option is best suited. If your child is medically fragile, and the school is either inexperienced in their care, or if you do not feel comfortable sending them, the federal government has stipulated that these children can receive their schooling at home, at no cost to you. If your child is not physically capable of attending school for an entire day due to health problems or medication schedules, the school is also required to tailor-make a shortened day for them, allowing times for therapies, etc. in a shorter day. Schools also are required by law to arrange transportation to and from school at no charge to you (even for shortened days). For more information on the laws governing the education of your child visit our page titled 'The Law'. And as always, follow your heart and head. There is no scientific evidence that children with lissencephaly who attend inclusive schools for X number of hours a day progress further than others.
